Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 NIV
Think how a chick is hatched. What was once a perfect environment becomes a cramped coffin. The food is gone. The chick must free himself or die. It taps, pecks, tries and keeps trying until finally its beak cracks the shell. The chick perseveres until finally it bursts through.
The work is demanding, exhausting, and necessary.
For theres a strange thing about hatchlingsthey will not survive if you break the shell for them. The mere act of breaking free strengthens muscles needed for survival later.
Its a process each of us faces as we look for spiritual breakthroughs. We tap, we peck, and we feel uncomfortable and cramped. We want a breakthrough, then we need one, and then we must breakthrough or die.
Do you see the connection? Its not that God is an ogre in the sky waiting for us to finally pray enough to persuade him to answer. Hes waiting for something in us to develop, something that we need. He loves us enough to let us struggle and gain muscles needed for survival. And yes, He will answer when the time is right.
He can hardly wait.
